I left my truck driving job and want to take some courses at community college and get a culinary arts certificate and work in that field, am I too old?
Is 40 too old to go back to college and start a new career?

Not at all. I’m even older and I’m changing careers. You still have plenty of time, and the investment will be worth it.

Of course not. Most of the people I went to college with were in their 30’s and 40’s. My mother is in her early 50’s and she recently graduated with a BA in education. Good luck with your new career!

NO way!!!!
Actually I am planning to return to school and my 5 year olds reaction was ” But you’re too old to go to school mommy, grown ups don’t go to school”.
I told him that nobody is EVER too old for school, that grown ups go back to school all the time to upgrade their skills and that in life, you can never learn everything but you can and should try new things. He was surprised when I told him that seniors go to school but now he knows that no matter what age, you’re never too old and you can never learn too much!
Go for it! If it’s your passion it’s a great idea for you to go back to school. I am sure you’ll enjoy it and bet you won’t be the only real adult student in your class. When you’re done, whip me up something fancy would ya!

You are never to old to go to school and continue to learn. I did not get my college degree until my kids were in school. I was in my mid 30’s when I graduated from college.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! my dad is 50!!!!! and hes taking classes at a railroad collage. He just quit as a nurse, and now hes doing this. Youre not too old for anything unless you think you are. Im a young person only 14 really but im tired of seeing people waste away their lives because they think they are too old. You only have 1 life to live so you might as well be happy and do what you want to do!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

No you are not too old at 40. That is young. I know, I’m 48. By the time you get your certificate, you will be under 45 with at least 30-50 years to live. Get a good health insurance policy where ever you go to work after you get your culinary certificate so you will be covered for medical things. I was in the culinary busiess for 20 years at some very famous places. Let me tell you, the hours are long and hard. Good Luck

Do You See?…You are already an expert of Truck Driving…Why not share your experience with them on your own website.
And if your passion is culinary arts you may also share your passion with the world!
I highly recommend you to watch the following videos where peoples are sharing their successful experiences about Life Changing decisions:
