I want to know if college is rally important for me. I don’t want to go to college, but everyone keeps telling me I have to, although I don’t need a college education to be a chef. Just because I don’t want to go to college doesn’t I don’t want to go to school, I’d just rather go to a vocational school like the CIA or the French Culinary Institute instead of a regular college that has a cooking program, like Johnson&Wales. Is it really THAT important to go to college that you have to go even if there are other options for furthering your education?

What should I do? High school, which feels like a wasted year? College in the spring, with my GED? Help!?
Okay…I’ve been attending a ritzy private high school for the past three years, hating nearly every moment of it. This year my parents had enough and pulled me out. They’re thinking I’m going to go to the public high school for senior year. I was wondering about other possibilities, yet I need advice from people that aren’t related to me or my friends from that afore-mentioned high school, since I doubt they’ll condone my thinking. So I’m considering getting my GED, but does that leave a stigma? And then, not to waste this next year only getting the 1 or 2 credits I need to graduate, especially where I might need to take some basic classes over again at a public school, I could possibly enter college this coming spring semester. I’m not one that is really looking to go to Harvard or Stanford or anything, but I’m thinking of going to the state school, then perhaps culinary school, or a good writing program elsewhere. Any suggestions or advice? I think I’m done with high school, but…
what would i have to do years before college for culinary/pastry chef college?
I’ve always been interested in cooking. Anything having to do with cooking i am/was interested in (Cooking shows, runescape lol, and plain out cooking)
i am not even in freshman year but i think i could probably pursue this dream of being a chef. but what should i do until then? would i need great grades? would grades matter? how much money would i need for it? i know pretty much nothing about colleges or how they work lol so yeah… and what would i need to know about the actual career or being a chef? all information would be helpful because i’m very dull when it comes to stuff like this
i have poor grades at the moment though but if i put my mind to it i could get B’s and a few A’s. I don’t know if it matters stating it but yeah right now i have like C’s and failing a couple of classes.
please help!
thanks!

Does anyone know of a college on the East coast with Culinary Arts AND and English course?
I’ve been looking at colleges online and it seems everytime I find one with a Culinary Arts program there isn’t a English/creative writing course! And vice versa. Is it that the two just can’t coexist? If anybody knows of one with both please let me know!! (Near or around the East coast please,N.C,F.L,P.A,like that)

if i went to a private 2 year college would i get more aid/grants?
i have no money for college
I’m open to taking out a loan but I’m trying to pay for an associates in culinary arts. I really want a degree, it’s just important to me, and i’m a cook now..it’s my job so i figured I’d get it in that..unfortunately it’s mucho expensive.
there’s a private accelerated 2 year degree at a college outside my state. They don’t charge extra for out of staters but i filled out that fafsa calculator and it said i was in need and eligible for a lot of aid if i went there…
is that true? would going to the private school be better than going to the culinary program at the local community college?
cos it said i qualify for jack squat going locally
any advice?

When you go to college for culinary arts ,what do you essentially learn?
I know it’s teaching you how to cook. My boyfriend is going to college for this but he wants to open a vegetarian restaurant, maybe even vegetarian-vegan. What would he need to study to accomplish this and what would he learn in each class? (ie: for cooking, would he learn any cooking terms? or just simply cook)
