Okay… So this may seem REALLY crazy to you since I’m in the 8th grade.. but hey, I like to plan ahead! (WAY WAY AHEAD)
So. I’m from Texas and I really want to go to school in Europe. I need someone to talk to since my parents act like I’m giving them a guilt trip every time I talk to them about it.. which i am not.. So if you could please answer some of my questions and my many concerns that would be great. Thanks.
Why I want to go:
To have the experience of living abroad. And fending for myself… maybe to get a little maturity?
My concerns:
Would my parents feel like I’m abandoning them? I don’t want to break their hearts but I really don’t like where I am living. Its a really good university town but I just need to spread my wings and see the rest of the world on my own.
My parents have barely saved money for my college fund. I have less than 1000 dollars in there and so I would def. not be able to go to a prestigious university like oxford. Also I don’t want to leave my parents in debt so I would need to get a job. I have been told that you can’t get a job on a student visa. Now, I was born in Canada and I was thinking of going ahead and getting my Passport from there (even though I have an American one, I am still a “citizen” of the Canada and am labeled Canadian simply because I was born there). Canada, being a Commonwealth country, would give me the ability to work in any commonwealth country, correct? I really am unaware of the rules.
Would it be difficult for a person who has only been to summer camp once in her life? Lol.
I want to be an environmentalist but I also am good at art and am interested in culinary arts as well as anthropology and the study of culture and I love learning foreign language. Would there be anything available for me?
Also. What countries should I be considering? I’ve never been to europe though I hope to go really soon. I was thinking Ireland seeing that the UK is expensive. Also France. Anywhere you suggest. Really.
That was all I have to ask. Basically I need some REALLY REALLY good advice. Please don’t be a critic.
