Are there any substitutes for beeswax when making tallow sculptures?

31 May

I go to culinary school and we recently learned to make tallow sculptures. I had a woman who saw my sculpture in the school cafeteria and was interested in purchasing it, but I told her instead that I could make her another one. I decided to look online for the cost of tallow and tallow ingredients (1/3 lamb fat (we used shortening in class), 1/3 paraffin, and 1/3 beeswax), but I found that both bulk tallow and beeswax are far too pricy for my college student budget. I think the qualities beeswax lends to tallow are sturdiness and a melting point higher than that of the paraffin and animal fat/shortening, but I’m not certain. So I think I need a wax that’s has a similar melting point and density at room temperature, but, when melted with paraffin and shortening and left to reharden, will be soft, smooth, and workable when warmed to body temperature through the processes of scraping and kneading.

How do I get my boss to stop making the same, lame, inappropriate joke everyday?

21 Apr

Everyday we have to hear LOUDLY who is on what ‘team,’ by team he means those men at work who partake in the ‘culinary art of cunnilingus.’
If you are going to suggest asking him, I have done that, I have asked him to refrain from discussing his interests in gynecological gastronomy, but one short half week evacuation vacation for Gustav and the topic is back. I’m gonna scream, he’s obsessed!!!!!! HELP!

what is a healthy, ham recipe that everybody will like?
No, i realize that ham itself isn’t that healthy, i’m just looking for wasy to make it a bit more healthy.
