Food Service Sanitation Certification?

26 May

I’ve been thinking about switching careers. Currently, I’m not in food service, but I’d like to be. I’m not talking about McDonald’s or anything like that, I mean working in a kitchen, possibly as a chef’s assistant or something.

What I’m wondering is: Do I have to get a sanitation certification before I apply for jobs like this? Do I have to even have one individually, or does it apply to the whole restaurant?

I’ve found information out about how I can get certified, but I don’t want to look like a dummy and just show up with one. I haven’t been to culinary school or anything, since I know they certify you there before you leave.

Any answers would be helpful and thanks in advance.

Tips on joining the diplomatic security service?

01 Apr

I asked this question a few days ago and was told to give some background info on myself in order to get better advice.

I am prior service navy (4yrs) where I held a secret clearance.

I got out and went to culinary school and became a Chef.

I am now in Army ROTC and going into the guard.

I have spoken with a DSS recruiter and was told I can be in the guard and a DSS Special Agent concurrently.

I will graduate and commission in April, with a degree in International Studies, minor in military science and a Certificate in Supply chain logistics management.

I will have a GPA between 2.7 and 3.0.

what are my chances on getting in and how can I improve them?

What are some cooperative education programs and service learning programs in NYC?

08 Mar

I’ve heard that cooperative education programs are funded by employers, and service learning programs are usually funded by the goverment. I need a scholarship to attend a culinary school in NYC, but I live in Jersey City. I recently heard about these two kinds of programs, but it’s been difficult to find information. I need to find one that will allow me to use my scholarship for trade school rather than college, and will also let me attend a NY school even though I live in NJ.
