Who here can give me some facts about the culinary world as far as jobs n’ such against the recession?

31 May

I wantto go to culinary school for baking and pastry but my parents are against it. They don’t see it as a way to reach the goal that is my future. I guess that sounds weird. They see it as a stupid set of schools that ‘teach you how to cook’. They do teach you how to cook, but I wwantto not only go to school for baking/pastry but also hotel and restaurant management. Do you have any facts that can show the PRO’S of this career path. Someone once told me that this career choice is one of the biggest as far as not failing during recessions… Is it? Well I think so but can ANYONE give me facts to prove it?????????

the thing about being a chef is that you not only have to got to culinary school but in order to really make it…meaning making enough money to have a very comfortable lifestyle…you have to also work under a well known chef…which is really hard to do…my niece’s father went to culinary school and even worked under chef paul prudhomme…who is a famous chef here in louisiana…and emeril legasse…who everyone should know…he wound up being head chef at a very expensive restaurant…made pretty good money…and then he quit because he couldn’t make enough money to support his family and got a better job making way more money than he ever did selling supplies to restaurants…it’s a very hard business and a lot of hard work to become very successful…i see why your parents are against it but if this is your passion then i say go for it and give it all you got!! good luck
